Currently Obsessed With: Chanel Headdresses
This winter, I’ve found myself visually drawn to the harder shapes, lines, and layers of designers like Rick Owens but Chanel’s couture runway show has me eager for the softer sides of Spring!
I am not one for white, as I generally find it too clean and perfect but Karl Largerfeld’s designs transcended that dynamic and allowed me to see a more delicate type of beauty in the color. Sarah Mower from Style.com writes, “An all-white collection sounds like an exercise in clinical minimalism, but it wasn’t. It was rather like an uplifting rite of spring, perfectly pitched between graphic modernism, ravishing romance, and astonishingly innovative detail”. Well said, Ms. Mower.
To complement the restraint of Lagerfeld’s clothing designs, he enlisted the help of a Japanese hair stylist, Kamo, to create the show stealing paper headdresses. Close up photos allow you to see the incredible craftsmanship that goes into making an itemĀ like this entirely by hand. Can you imagine what a painstakingly delicate process it must have been? Well done, Kamo.
