On Friday, Esther asked me what I thought of the 2010 resort collections and I didn’t have much of an answer for her. For some reason, I hadn’t been compelled to browse the photos – which is very odd because if I’m being honest, the resort collections are usually my favorite. Today, I started with Balenciaga and got through the first 12 looks before passing judgment: It’s true love.

I’m convinced that Nicolas Ghesquière has a wonderful sense of humor and an admirable appreciation of fashion history. If I am ever to meet him, I will gush profusely.  He taught me to believe in futuristic fashion with his Spring 2009 show but then he did something even more impressive.  Ghesquière made me want to rock a ruffle collar with my parka this winter.
