march 2010

March is a strange month for several reasons; here are 5:
  1. It’s no longer the “new year”, so what’s your excuse for still writing 2009 on things?
  2. The weather is moody but you can count on two things – the wet and the cold.
  3. The little biological clock inside of your body can’t stop thinking about Spring so you find yourself fantasizing about activities and outfits that are completely impractical. Yes – it’s much too early for sundresses and afternoons spent lazily in the park.
  4. Even the cutest rain boots are no fun to wear in the club… or any other indoor venue.
  5. The ides. Beware.

03.Feb.2010 February: “Not Fade Away”

I can’t say enough great things about Linde (About to Combust). Aside from being an extraordinary friend, with a ridiculous amount of patience and love in her heart and a super smart brain in her head, she’s  just about the coolest kid that I know.

I can safely say that any musical obsession that I’ve had in the last few years has somehow been connected to Linde. I specifically remember a few years back when she tried to get me to listen to Hot Chip and I was like “nah, why would anyone like this… it’s so borrring!”. Linde could have quit on me then but she didn’t! She kept sending me great music and let me tell you, Hot Chip gets me through some things – like riding the L train every morning. So I’m really thrilled to announce that Linde has agreed to do a monthly mix for Trendology!

The first one, is entitled “Not Fade Away” and it’s full of goodness, including some of my current favorites like Miike Snow – “Animal”, some Devendra Banhart – “I feel just like a child”, and an American legend –Loretta Lynn’s “Have Mercy”.

I dare you not to sing along.

08.Dec.2009 Frost in Space!

modcloth frost in space

Our dear friend, Linde has entered Mod Cloth’s “Name It and Win It” contest! The challenge was to come up with a name for this dress and Linde sumbitted “Frost In Space”! I love it, don’t you? Well, if you have two seconds go over to Mod Cloth and help Linde win this dress! It only takes a second and there is nothing that you need to fill out. Just click on the name you like best (FROST IN SPACE!) and boom you’re done!

17.Nov.2009 Let It Fall

Graduating from FIT, will be one of the best things that could possibly happen to this blog! It feels like I am always making lists of things that I want to blog about but the time just never comes! Anyway, one month left! In the meantime, Linde-love made a mix that has been getting me through the academic grind. Enjoy.

17.Jun.2009 Summer Challenge: Fashion Sketches

Threadbanger “How-to Fashion Sketch”

Because of the hectic schedule of school, I’ve always thought that the summer was the perfect time to pick up a new hobby. This summer, I’ve decided to give drawing a go. Nothing has consistently pained me throughout life as much as my supposed inability to draw. Both my brother and my dad and pretty talented and I suspect that my mother and sister would be as well.  But Linde, being the wise sage that she is, suggested that I at least attempt to keep a sketch book because I might be surprised at what I am actually capable of. I’ve accepted the challenge and have decided to start my summer challenge, tomorrow!

Do you all have any creative challenges planned for this summer?

10.Jun.2009 Bigfoot & Animals Dressed Like People

Bigfoot Sightings

Last night, when I came home from work, I had a package waiting for me. I was so exhausted that I only half -heatedly started to open the box before collapsing on my bed and not really moving until my roommate came home. So, imagine my joy this morning when I woke – revitalized- and finished opening the box and discovered it to be a present from my dearest Linde-love! Individually wrapped in the most beautiful paper was the trilogy of Bigfoot books by Graham Roumieu that I blogged about last month! Swoon. Linde is a national treasure! It’s true – look it up.

But it’s not just me and Linde that have Bigfoot on the brain – while going through my google reader this afternoon, I saw that Jill from Trend de la Crème had just done her own blogpost about Bigfoot! Check out her post – there’s a ring that I’m completely mad about!

My Favorite Bigfoot Finds:

“Movin On Out” t-shirt by Timber!

Abominable Snowpeople Family print by Berkley Illustration

Fighting Sasquatch Brothers by Berkley Illustration

I just “discovered” Berkley Illustration at the Renegade Craft Fair this weekend. In general, anything animal related got me to giggle and gush the entire afternoon but it was the prints from Berkley Illustration that I couldn’t stop talking about – one of my favorite booths for sure. I now really regret not buying anything but that’s what Etsy is for, I suppose.

Berkley Illustration:

Lion
