This morning, I woke up and couldn’t get out of bed. It’s Sunday and it’s gray and miserable looking outside. So it made perfect sense to me that I should watch Singles – a film about grungy Seattle in the early 90s. Two good things came out of this life choice.
1. I’ve decided that Matt Dillon and James Franco need to be in a film together.
2. I’ve decided that I want to recreate Bridget Fonda’s final outfit (above).

Those shoes have always looked ridiculous to me but in this photo they look appropriate.

Growing up, my mother loved Ray-Bans and they were one of the few fashion items that she didn’t readily let me play with. This was probably a wise choice on her part because even when I came to have a sunglasses obsession my sophomore year of college (thanks to Nicole Richie![true story, i adore her]), I was always breaking them. I blame my accidents on the lack of sunglasses’ cases** made for oversized frames. The fragility of these items is the main reason that I never invested in a “really good” pair. When it comes to the wayfarer style, I’ve always been okay with sporting knockoffs. Really fly knockoffs but imitations none the less. But things have suddenly changed.
Behold the superiority of Ray-Ban design:
Crack open the piggy bank.*
**is that gramatically correct?
*okay, never gonna happen but they are very pretty.
I don’t wear shorts unless I’m working out or they are actually overalls. I really love short overalls. But this winter, I’ve been drawn to the winter shorts look. I see girls wearing thick tights and leggings underneath beautifully tailored shorts and I want to participate! This feeling was greatly intensified when I came across this particular pair on Etsy. For the love of all that’s cute and pastel, can one of you XS girls buy these?? I want to know that they’ve gone to a good home!

NENEEE cotton candy shorts

How cute is this “A Tear for Polaroid” ring by Helpless Romantic.
Just imagine all of the sarcastic miming that could be done while wearing it!
It’s been a while since I was really excited by a Target collaboration. Well – okay, I was terribly excited about Anna Sui but wasn’t quick enough to get my hands on anything. Then Rodarte happened and although I love the label, I couldn’t really muster up that crazy excitement that so many other bloggers seemed to have. It came and went and I didn’t have an ounce of regret. This Zac Posen collection, is entirely different. I feel eager to spend some money!
Starting with the look at left: I didn’t know that I needed a tuxedo bodysuit but I do. It actually solves so many of my wardrobe issues that it’s kind of absurd — and no, I don’t blame you for being confused or skeptical of that statement. I only ask that you suspend your disbelief and allow yourself to believe this strange truth. The skirt isn’t bad either, it looks like a more refined version of a paperbag skirt that I loved a few seasons back but never managed to purchase.
The collection drops 4/25 so save the date!
